Every day about 300 tommes of radiation-contaminated water have been leaking from the Fukushima nuclear power plant’s affected reactor for 2 years after it was damaged by a tsunami in 2011. Tokyo Electric Power Co. (TEPCO) has released the first video filmed at the basement of the damaged Fukushima reactor on August 30. The footage shows that water is streaming along the walls and pipes in the underground space. Radioactive water has been leaking to the Pacific and nearby seas for 2 years in the form of underground waters.
The plant’s operator isn’t able to contain the issue, thus the government will pay 47 million US dollars in order to construct aprotective “ice wall” as well as a new water treatment system.
